Project overview

The Kochi Design Week platform is being revamped to establish itself as a year-round global design hub, supported by the government and aiming for UNESCO recognition. The website will serve as a dynamic platform for designers, sponsors, media students, and the general public, offering registrations, masterclasses, workshops, and events. The redesign will focus on futuristic, well-organized content, improved user experience, and a structured approach to event announcements, partnerships, and acknowledgments. With a responsive design approach, the revamped site will modernize its HTML5 and PHP-based framework to enhance accessibility and engagement.

Challenge

The current Kochi Design Week website follows the same template since 2018, making it outdated and less engaging for a global audience. Users struggle with unorganized content, making navigation difficult, while the website feels overly promotional rather than informative. The lack of structured event details, registration flows, and a modern visual design affects user experience and credibility. A complete revamp is needed to create a futuristic, dynamic, and user-friendly platform that aligns with global design standards and UNESCO recognition goals.

Design Process

The design process begins with Discovery & Research, where we analyze user needs, business objectives, and competitor insights to establish a solid foundation. Next, in Strategy & Structure, we define the information architecture, wireframes, and content flow to create a seamless user experience. Moving into Design & Prototyping, we develop a cohesive visual language, interactive prototypes, and UI components to ensure a compelling and engaging interface. Finally, in Development & Implementation, we build, test, and optimize the responsive website, ensuring a smooth and efficient launch.

Strategic Design Approach

The Kochi Design Week platform will adopt a futuristic and dynamic design to establish itself as a globally recognized creative hub. The new website will prioritize seamless navigation and structured content, ensuring clarity for all stakeholders. A strong visual identity and engaging user experience will enhance accessibility and interaction.

A key focus will be on scalability and responsiveness, ensuring a smooth experience across devices. The platform will feature interactive modules, event registrations, and payment gateways to streamline participation. Organized content and intuitive layouts will address past frustrations and improve user engagement.

The website will introduce dedicated spaces for speakers, partnerships, and acknowledgments, reinforcing credibility. Features like the Wall of Fame and year-wise edition tracking will highlight contributions and growth. A monthly blog and activity updates will sustain audience engagement beyond the event.

By integrating government collaborations and UNESCO recognition efforts, the platform will strengthen Kochi’s design ecosystem. The inclusion of volunteer registrations, masterclasses, and workshops will encourage diverse participation. Ultimately, the revamped website will position Kochi as a year-round destination for creativity and innovation.

Solutions

A Vision for Global Recognition

The Kochi Design Week aims to establish itself as a UNESCO-recognized design hub, supported by the government and catering to designers, architects, and the creative industry. The platform will foster conversations, workshops, and city beautification projects, enhancing Kochi’s cultural and infrastructural landscape.

Enhanced User Experience & Features

The revamped website will offer structured content, event registrations, a masterclass section, and a "Wall of Fame" to recognize contributors. A futuristic and dynamic design will improve accessibility for global audiences, ensuring seamless navigation for attendees, sponsors, and media professionals.

Technical & Design Prioritization

A mobile-responsive and visually compelling interface will be built using an updated design system. The frontend will be modernized from HTML5, while PHP will continue to power the backend. A secure payment gateway will facilitate ticket sales and volunteer registrations.

Expected Outcome & Engagement

With an emphasis on an engaging landing page, a well-organized speaker segment, and an optimized content structure, the new platform will ensure a seamless experience. The focus will be on delivering a world-class digital presence that aligns with Kochi Design Week’s vision for global impact.
